Negative: It would have been helpful to have had a bedside reading light on all bedside tables and also a coffee table in the lounge. Neither of these spoiled our stay.

Positive: The owner had really made an effort to make the home modern and homely. Lovely touches throughout from the water provided in the bedrooms to the hamper of food to eat throughout your duration. The smart televisions in each room with apps and WiFi was a home from home and we enjoyed family evenings in the spacious living room. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you needed to enjoy a home cooked meal. This included children’s plates, bowls, cups and even child’s cutlery which goes to show the level of detail the owner put in. Beds very comfy, shower was warm, flat was cosy with hive heating to control the temp. The spec online said no room for a cot but there was plenty of room for our travel cot to fit in the main bedroom. Cleanliness was brilliant in areas but in other areas was below average. It should be mentioned that all mattresses were spotless as were the carpets and the settee.
Negative: The smell as you walk into the flat is very strong of what we thought was cigarettes and damp muskyness, this was not pleasant at all. This may be the smell from the stairwells moving into the apartment but the smell was very strong in the utility room area near the front door and continued through into the kitchen cupboards. The apartment did smell a bit better once we had opened and aired it with the windows. Maybe the cleaner needs to be asked to open the windows before the next tenant arrives to improve this. Largely the space was clean however the following needed some work. 1. All kitchen cupboards and fridge door had visible dirty finger prints on (we are talking tomato sauce prints on white cupboards). I had to scrub these prior to use. 2. Plates and bowls hadn’t been washed properly and some had food residue on. Some of the mugs had a coffee mark ring inside (managed to clue them with steriliser tablets I had with me for baby bottles). Whilst a hard brush was provided for washing up there was no sponge and even I struggled to adequately clean plates after use. 3. The oven knobs were full of grease and need to be scrubbed as they were very sticky. 4. The kitchen floor was sticky. 5. The bathroom whilst looked spotless had 2 handprints and a face print on the vinyl on the wall… Other points to mention 1. There was no kitchen sponge or cloth to wipe down surfaces or wash plates adequately. 2. The kitchen table and microwave looked like they had been cleaned but smear marks left. Cleaner should be prompted to use a dry cloth to buff these up. 3. The welcome book had sticky handprints on every page (sounds minor but makes you feel dirty). 4. No hand towel in the bathroom. 5. The main bedroom had a strong odour of musky male aftershave. Initially it did make me feel that another tenant had been in however on further thought it may have been the washing powder used but it was quite overpowering and didn’t give us a clean scent.

Positive: Really conveniently located. Short walk from railway station. Clean, spacious and well appointed. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
